What has happened to Kolkatans? Why have we lost our sense of lending a hand atleast in times of dire needs. Just yesterday hundreds saw a man die in the river Hooghly but no one dared to do something. The pilots of the 2 launches turned a deaf ear to the hundreds of shouts of the passengers to stop as if his butt was on fire.
Arent these government employees humans? Ofcourse we have seen them piloting buses whether it is local or long distance with no mercy. These government employees have proved to be inhumans since ages. They wont think twice before runnign over someone, thats what it seems like though it sounds odd.
Yesterday evening a man drowns in the river which is supposed to Holy. WHo knows how many more are supposed to loose their lives before someone does something about it. The same happened toa adistance relative of mine years back. This was a repetition. My relatives body was found after more than a week completely swollen, hard to recognise, not sure what is going tohappen to this man, hardly there are chances of him being alive.
But let me ask the Kolkatans one question. I know that everbody shouted for help but the pilot didnt stop. The public ransacked the office and manhandled the pillot after reaching the surface but what were they doing while they were in the launch. Couldnt a few people have broken the pilot door in the launch itself, it is not heavily guarded after all?
A few months back such an incident happened to a friends friend of mine who died in front of the Kalighta Metro Station due to a heart attack. As we all know that we have police personnel sitting in entrance of the metro railways. People passed by but no one cared. After about half and hour someone tried to rescue him but by the time they stopped an ambulance and they were on their way to the hospital the man was dead.
I stay outside Kolkata, here people say that Kolkata is famous for its hospitality. Many famous personalities from different sectors of entertainment have been found to voice the same. But do we do so only on a case basis just to be in the lime light.
Inspite of all these I still feel that there are some good men/women out there. Hoping for the best.
