3 days to the commonwealth games 2010

In my last post i described the pityful condition of New Delhi due to the commonwealth games. It was still a sad scenario. Then yesterday one of my friend sent me an email which contained a few pitures of the different arenas where different events are to be held for this commonwealth games 2010.

The email contained some pistures some of which I am going to share here in this blog.

Swimming pool

Stadium

Boxing Arena

Does these pictures above show that we are not ready for the games. Well internally we are not but there are still small loopholes which needs to be filled. The morning news informed us that Australia has shown the green

9 days to the Commonwealth Games 2010

9 days to go for the commonwealth games and we are nowhere close to the expected standard. Pictures of dirty rest rooms, beds with muddy dao paws, flooded entrances to the appartments, dangerously open areas in corridors are hovering around the internet and daily newpapapers.

In this murky scenario one of the CWG bigshots commented that our hygiene standards are not equal to their standards. what a shamful comment from a person in charge of the organising commitee. I would like to ask this person Mr. Lalit Bhanot secretary general of the OC that how come hygiene differ from country to country. In India are we really proud of our hygiene ideas. Can the capital city of India boast of hygiene now. Just a few days back news of dengue and other related diseases

Asian Games 2010- A standing example in India

null

Today while going through the msn india headlines I was shocked to see that a bridge recently built in the commonwealth village games in new delhi has collapsed. The bridge was built at a cost of 5 crores and was completed within 2-3 days. Now with 12 days in hand this bridge collapse has added another crown to the already running CWG fiasco.

What hurts is that our politicians and bureaucrats showed a dismal picture of our country. This was supposed to be a huge affair

Are we Indians spending our valuable money on other resources?

India is going to see the costliest film in the Indian Film Industry soon. The film has been made at a whopping cost of 190 crores. Well I am eagerly waiting to see this movie as what interests me is where this amount of money was spent rather than how the movie is or who are starring. The hero in this movie is well known in Indian Film Circle as the costliest actor. It seems that one of his last movie was the costliest movie made in India few years back.
Not only this, there are other movies who are made at huge budget. India has many movie industries varying from one region to another. The most well known is the Indian Hindi Movie industry popularly known as Bollywood and the other is the South Indian Movie Industry. Now this South Indian Movie industry has 4 variations due 4 different languages in the southern region. Then there are other genres in India too like the Marathi, Bengali, and Bhojpuri etc.
The costliest are usually made in the Hindi and the Tamil Film Industry according to news sources. Thousand of crores are spent on the fees of the Heroes and Heroines. Even there are such actors and actresses who have a fixed scale and won’t accept a penny less.
The most amusing part is where does this money come from? Do we not still belong to the developing nations group? Do we not have millions of people who don’t get 2 times food a day? Well there are millions such including small children who go to sleep at night after just a glass of water may be. Let alone food for all, do we have the basic necessities in India that we spent billions in the movie industry. We pay our favorite actors and actresses in millions just for being our favorite actor and actress. I am stressing on “we pay” coz it s

Blasphemy in the name of Religion

Ever since the day I started understanding religion, violence i had seen in many occasions how violence is potrayed in the name of religion. Many cases have been found where for no reason some one has been termed as a blaspheme. This article is all about this.

Being an Atheist

Being an atheist

Being an atheist in this world is like being a different person. You turn right/left/back you will see a person having their beliefs in one or the other religion. That may be Hinduism. Islam, Judaism etc to name a few.

If someone asks you to accompany him/her to a place of worship, you refuse and tell them that you are an atheist you will find raised eye brows! People would look at you differently. There will be a certain sect of people who will think that you are practicing blasphemy. But few will realize the actual meaning of the word ATHESIM.

The four main types:

1: Theist

2: Atheist

3: Agnostic

4: Free Thinker

What is atheism?

Wikipedia defines atheism as an explicit position, can be either the affirmation of the nonexistence of gods, or the rejection of theism. It is also defined more broadly as synonymous with any form of nontheism, including the simple absence of belief in deities.

Now let’s have a look what the other three are?

A theist is one who believes in the existence of one or more deities, one who believe in the existence of a supernatural power.

An Agnostic is one who is not sure whether god exists or not.

A free thinker is one who forms his/her opinion about religion on the basis of certain reasons which is independent of tradition, authority or establishment.

I feel if someone doesn’t have any belief in deities whether it is lord Shiva or goddess kali, Jesus or Mother Mary, or any other deities who are worshipped in different religions, there shouldn’t be any harm to society. On the other hand if a person worships his parents/guardians in place I feel it is more worthy. If a person feels that he would worship a human being as his/her god and says that a deity is nothing to him that should be acceptable until he involves in inducing hatred among people for gods or insults someone’s behavior.

I am an atheist. I don’t believe in god but I agree to one fact that there might be something in this world in which people believe in. I have found many people saying that they get peace of mind whenever they are in trouble or mental distress and they remember god. There is no harm in that. And when there is no harm in this why there should be harm if you don’t believe in god and remember your loved ones face in case of distress and get mental peace.

Sanctity- I feel is not only god related, it should be in a persons mind. A persons mind should be godly. Going to a place of worship doesn’t make you pure until you are pure in your mind. There are a lot of wars happening in today’s world which happens over places of worship. Different religions fight among each other, kill each other to establish their own place of worship.

A great example is the Babri Masjid case in the 90’s where many died fighting proving their word. Still cases are pending in Indian Courts.

I am an atheist. I feel I should not harm anyone’s belief or sentiments and no one should hurt mine. But, of course when there are killings happening, in the name of god then any one should protest, not in the name of god, but in the name of humanity!

I believe atheist can stay in this world free, without raised eye brows as long as they cause no harm to society. If I insult someone belief I am invading his/her privacy. But if I am opposing someone who indulges in creating mass hatred then I would protest. Like wise if I am not inciting hatred among others saying why you should believe in god when you can’t prove it, then there is a problem.

E.G Creation of Earth is considered godly, in the sense God has created this earth-you will find different versions of this in different religions. But can any one disregard the theory of BIG BANG and how earth was created if you speak scientifically. Can we disregard how earth and other planets were formed from a disk shaped mass of gas left after the formation of sun. Can we disregard that earth was formed 4.5 billion years ago out of the solar nebula. (For more info:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth)

Now in terms of religion you will find astrologers mentioning about different planetary movements in you life- and how these movements can bring ups and downs in your life.

If all these are considered to be true as these are religious then why not atheism is considered another freedom of mankind.

In my opinion an atheist has the right to live life happily just like a theist does. Only one should not invoke something harmful in each others beliefs. Even I sometimes speak against religion but I make sure that I don’t harm any ones sentiments. If someone asks me to accompany him/her to a religious place I go. The only reason being I don’t want to harm ones sentiment. I feel if that person feels good if I am there by him/her then I should visit that place of worship. This way I feel an atheist can live hand in hand with a theist.

To sum it up atheism and theism are two different faces of humanity.
